Offshore Detention: Interview with an Expert

On the 7th and 8th of December, this Government will try to use their Anti-Refugee Bill to introduce the offshore detention of people seeking asylum.

This policy has only been tried once before, by the Australian government, and it was, in every way, a horrific failure.

Here, offshore detention is explained in-depth by Madeline Gleeson, Senior Research Fellow at the Kaldor Centre for International Refugee Law at the University of New South Wales, Sydney.

She was interviewed by SNP MP Anne McLaughlin, ahead of this crucial vote in Parliament.

Madeline literally wrote the book on offshore detention. So, if you want to understand what the Government is planning to do to people seeking asylum, Madeline Gleeson is the person to listen to.

We’re asking our supporters to call on their MP to oppose offshore detention next week, when MPs will have the chance to debate and vote against this Government’s plans.
